Surgical Opening of a Scarred Bladder Neck Constriction<\/h2>\n

A bladder neck constriction<\/strong>, bladder neck stenosis or bladder neck contracture is a narrowing at the transition from the bladder to the prostate<\/strong>. This makes it difficult for urine to flow out of the bladder.<\/p>\n

With a bladder neck stenosis<\/strong>, the urinary stream is weakened and other symptoms such as recurrent bladder infections<\/a>, residual urine in the bladder as well as burning and pain when urinating can occur.<\/p>\n

If the early stage bladder neck constriction<\/strong> is mainly due to muscle spasms, medication such as alpha-blockers can be attempted as a cure.<\/p>\n

If the constriction is advanced and mainly due to scarring, a surgical opening is performed: The bladder neck incision<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
